I recently picked up some postcards showcasing Kansas City's sports venues. I'm very fortunate to still have the stadiums I grew up with, although they have been heavily renovated since I was a kid. Kauffman Stadium, home of the Royals, and Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Chiefs, have never looked better. They almost look brand new, as a couple of these postcards show.
The KC area also has a couple of fairly new arenas which are state of the art. The Independence Events Center is home to the Missouri Mavericks minor league hockey team and other smaller events while the Sprint Center in downtown KC is host to many concerts and big events. Hopefully it'll be home to an NHL or NBA team someday.
Although we're a small sports market, I'd put Kansas City's sports facilities up against any other city any day.
The Rocketeer is one of the great comic book movies of all time. It's one of my favorite films and is the one I believe stayed closer to the source material than any other genre movie. I was happy to pick up the souvenir magazine a while back. It had a lot of great photos I'd never seen before.
After seeing all these great images, I think I'll pop in the Blu-ray for a Rocketeer Sunday afternoon.
